Mass purge

Nature of the dissapearances
Edit
Members who dissapear from FI go through several noticeable and consistent phases which have been observed many times. There are three phases.
Phase 1:
Edit
Phase one begins with a more significant amount of activity than usual from the subject. Many topics are raised and discussed over a short period of time. The subject will probably be one of the most active posters for a short time, and most discussion centers around the subject during this time.
Phase 2:
Edit
Phase 2 can start several ways. Sometimes the subject may be criticized for his significantly high amount of activity on EN, get into an argument over a sensitive topic which they may or may not have started, or maybe even feel rejected by the members of EN. This is where the dissapearance begins. The subjects activity will dip moderately, and they may only appear once a week.
Phase 3:
Edit
Phase 3, the final phase, sees the subject dissapear completely. Whilst nearing the end of phase 2 people sometimes cotton on to the possibility that the subject is a victim of the mass purge, but accusing them of dissapearing only seems to speed the process up. The user is rarely seen again after falling victim to the purge.
Notable Victims
Edit
Russ:
Edit
Russ, once a prominent member and leading admin at EN, got himself into a vicious argument with some whores about womens rights in the feminism thread, and ever since the said clash of opinions, russ fell victim to the mysterious mass purge. His activity fluctuated, and he went through all three phases at a fast pace. Russ has not been seen since early August. It is figured he will never be seen again, as purge victims who have been missing as long as this usually never do.
Mikey:
Edit
Mikey was visiting his friends at EN for a brief period whilst under the influence of alcohol and consierable boredom, when he came across a poll which seemed to indicate Ben Roberts was more popular than him. Mikey, enraged at this, dissapeared for a month, though nobody realised until he came back and told them. Because it appears that Mikey dissapeared voluntarily, it is disputed whether or not he counts as a victim of the mass purge.

Theories
Edit
There are many theories regarding the cause of the mass purge, but these are amongst the main ones:
GBV Fan:
Edit
A very popular theory is that GBV fan is systematically kidnapping every member of EN against their will, to get revenge and release himself of a long held grudge since the days of FI.
Knives:
Edit
Another closely related theory is that the members of EN are been kidnapped, not by GBV fan, but by Knives, a pissed off nerd who has fanatic beliefs about how forum mafia should be played. It is thought he is kidnapping members of EN and attempting to school them with severe methods on the proper way to play forum mafia.
Aliens:
Edit
Not as popular but regardless a respected theory, is the one which claims aliens from Saturn are abducting the members of EN as a social experiment to gain insight into the workings of an internet community. This theory was first put forward by henry, who also hints that the aliens he claims to be abducting all of EN may be working with GBV fan and Knives.
Real Life:
Edit
An outside theory claims that the dissapearances are simply behind people getting lives outside of the internet, and nothing more. This theory is ridiculed by many, and largely ignored.
